Aloha!

Predictable [and cheesy] title, but hey, we now live in Hawaii!

I don't know where to begin.  We made it.  Sydney made it [huge answer to prayer].  Our luggage made it.  Dan's car made it [mine should be here on the 26th].  We found a place to live.  Our household goods are on their way.  We visited a new church.  We met new friends.

God is certainly good.  It's been a blessing and peace to see His hand in every part of our move.  I am so thankful we serve a God of details.

I had every intention of journaling about the moving process as we were going through it, but I just couldn't keep up.  So much has happened in the past few weeks...it's a blur. I plan to go back and blog about things in detail, but here's a recap starting from the beginning of May.

[I just realized that I didn't blog at all in May, so clearly, it was busy.]

May 4 - After a long wait, we finally got our military orders and could"officially" begin planning our move. Just a few days later, Dan drove to Baltimore and dropped off his car to be shipped to Hawaii. We had a fun month of carpooling in my car until we left.

Throughout the month, we tried to spend as much time as possible with our friends and family, while finishing up work/school and preparing for the big move.  [I will catch up later]

May 29 - The movers came to our house and began packing up all of our stuff.  We originally requested to be packed up sooner, but the company was completely booked.  It all worked out fine, but is now the reason why our stuff will not arrive in Hawaii until July 24th.

May 31 - The last of our belongings were loaded onto the moving truck.  We were left with an air mattress and the luggage we'd later fly with.

June 1 - One of the most bittersweet days - my last day of work.  I ended the school year a week early so we could take care of final moving preparations.  I had such a fabulous group of students and amazing co-workers.  It was definitely hard to say goodbye.  After an emotionally exhausting day, I was so glad to see my family, who came in for Dan's graduation weekend.

June 2 - Dan had his military commissioning ceremony and was promoted from Second Lieutenant to Captain in the Army!  I am so proud of him.  His family came to town that afternoon, and we celebrated with all of our Erie friends at a delicious cookout.

June 3 - Dan graduated from medical school and officially became Dr. Daniel Robert DiBlasi! Still can't believe it! Four years of hard work paid off.

June 4 - All of our family, except my mom, left.  More hard goodbyes [but we're looking forward to many visits in Hawaii!].  That afternoon, we shipped my car.

June 6 - We drove to the Cleveland airport and sent Sydney off to Hawaii.  I was so nervous, but she made it, and I'm thankful.

June 7 - Mom took Dan and I to the airport [super hard goodbye] and after a long day of travel, we made it to our new home!!

Lots of change.

Big changes.  Good changes.

We're so glad we're here and we're definitely excited for this new adventure!

  1. I love that God cares about details, too! I'm so happy y'all made it safely and that you are getting settled in! Erie, PA misses the DiBlasi's. I hope our paths cross again very soon.
