4th of July

[only 2 months late]

Dan's internship officially began in the first week of July, and he was busy working hard on the 4th.  It was sad not to spend our first and only 4th of July (in Hawaii) together, but thankfully, I was able to spend the day with some other new intern wives, whose husbands were also working. In the morning, Jackie and I met Lindsey down in Waikiki Beach for a while. And that evening, Jackie and I headed to Hickam Air Force Base for their 4th of July celebration for military families. There were several food vendors, rides for kiddos, and the evening culminated with a free David Cook (from American Idol) concert + an amazing firework show.

There was something incredibly patriotic and special about celebrating the 4th of July on a military base.  I'm thankful for the many men and women...past, present, and future...who serve our country and continue to fight for our freedom.
