Tripler Graduation

Dan graduated from his internship year at Tripler Army Medical Center on June 21, 2013. The ceremony was for doctors completing their internship programs, as well as for doctors completing their residency programs. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful ceremony. It was neat to experience new military traditions and have a few Hawaiian traditions mixed in, too!
Earlier in the spring, Dan participated in a poster presentation and won 2nd place for his category. He was presented with a certificate on graduation day.
Dan's internship year was probably one of the most difficult experiences he's had to date. Even though we lived in 'paradise', he worked crazy hours. It wasn't uncommon for him to go in around 5am and return home between 7-8pm. He also rarely had an entire weekend off. I'm so proud of everything he put into the year, and the graduation was a sweet reminder that his hard work paid off in the end.
Transitional Year Interns
I'm really thankful for the wives I met throughout the year. It was a blessing to have the support of other women experiencing the same crazy stage of their husband's career. Hopefully, our paths will cross again! (Hey, the Army is small...and the medical department is even smaller...you never know!)
After graduation, we had a small celebration at our house for all of the guys in Dan's intern class. Seeing the pictures makes me sad this was our first/only big get-together in our backyard!
Back home, my brother graduated from Hallmark Institute of Photography on the same day...and he won an award, too! I'm so proud of the men in my family :) If you haven't already, you should check out my brother's website here. He's an incredibly talented photographer!
