Sushi & Sweethearts

A couple of weeks ago, our good friends Bill and Christie hosted a sushi party to celebrate Valentine's Day.  It was such a perfect evening in every way.   Amazing sushi.  Fun games.  Great friends.

Bill and Christie live in a beautiful old home overlooking the bay.  The large dining table was arranged in their sun room and it felt like we were at a fine-dining restaurant with a waterfront view.  Beautiful decorations and tablescape.  Candles and dim lighting.  Michael Buble and other classy/lovey/dinner music playing in the background.

Christie decorated with a vintage-styled Valentine's theme.  On each place setting she used a vintage Valentine as the place card, and she wrote individual notes on the back of each.  So thankful for her friendship.

Let's talk about the sushi for a minute.  Bill made all of the sushi that day.  It looked professional and tasted just as good.

We spent hours just sitting at the table eating and eating and eating and enjoying each other's company.  Eventually we moved to the living room for some fun games...

Sarah and Drew won the couples' game! They're cute.

The evening ended with group photos, of course...

Here's a few more because out-takes are funny...

One of the things I love most about our friends in Erie is that we always find a reason to celebrate, whether it's a holiday or not.  Basically, we think of reasons why we all need to hang out. All of the time.

Some of our favorite memories in Erie have been from the holiday and random get-togethers. In case you want some proof, check it out.  Brooke and Freeland host the annual Christmas party (to see photos, click here) and Sarah and Drew host the annual Halloween party (to see photos, click here).

I'm definitely going to miss everyone when we move in June, but I don't want to think about that yet.

Extravagance

The Extravaganza is notorious for being the best dance at Grove City College for several reasons - the music, the mocktails and appetizers, and the overall atmosphere.  The Tri Rho housing group (like a fraternity, but not) is responsible for the big event.  When Dan went to Grove City, he was a Rho, and this year a lot of Rho alumni were planning on going back to attend the dance.  So Dan and I decided to go...

Of course, this year's Extravaganza lived up to its reputation, and we had a blast seeing old friends and dancing (although we felt kind of old since we're a few years removed from the whole college-dance-scene).  We also got to see our younger siblings, my sister Kate (a sophomore) and Dan's brother Matt (a junior and current Rho).  Good times were had by all.

Just for a laugh, I went through old pictures and found some from the Extravaganzas of year's past.

Enjoy...
2005 - Freshman Year
Dan was not yet a Rho (and didn't even attend the dance) and I had really bad hair

2006 - Sophomore Year
Master of the mocktails
Dan and his older brother John, who was a year ahead of us at Grove City
2007 - Junior Year
Dan had transferred to Siena College halfway through our junior year,
but he couldn't miss the Extravaganza and came back to campus for the dance

2008 - Senior Year
My brother Jon was a freshman at Grove City our senior year

Good stuff. Ha!
